Invisalign® is a digital orthodontic technique, which works by means of transparent and removable covers that nobody will notice, called aligners.

The Invisalign® treatment consists of a series of virtually invisible and removable aligners that are periodically changed. Each of them is manufactured specifically and exclusively for each specific person. As you change them, your teeth will move, little by little, week after week, until they are aligned and in the final position planned by the orthodontist.

This orthodontic system almost does not interfere with your day to day life and you can eat naturally.

The system

With more than 7 million patients worldwide and more than 20 years of innovation, Invisalign® is the pioneer, largest and most advanced provider of invisible orthodontics in the world.

With respect to other invisible retainer systems, Invisalign® fits better, it is up to 50% faster thanks to the use of new materials designed by its engineering and R&D team and also today allows to solve practically all orthodontic cases with total predictability and control. It is also comfortable, transparent and removable, so it will transform your smile without interfering with your image or your daily life.

How Invisalign works

Invisalign® aligners move teeth by applying precise forces to achieve controlled movement of the teeth.

Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign® not only controls the degree of movement per aligner, but also the exact time that this movement takes. Therefore, in each phase, only certain parts are allowed to move, based on the treatment plan for that particular step. This results in an efficient force application system that progressively moves the teeth toward the intended position.

Stages of Invisalign treatment

  • Initial assessment and complete orthodontic study: taking photographs and other records of the teeth, sending them to the Invisalign® headquarters and processing all this information following the precise instructions given by the orthodontist. It is he who will always establish the treatment plan and therefore it is essential to put yourself in the hands of an official Invisalign provider who perfectly masters this technique.
  • Case presentation: Invisalign® will perform a virtual 3D treatment of your teeth where you can see the planned treatment plan in a video.
  • Acceptance of the case and preparation of the aligners: Invisalign® elaborates the treatment by transforming the 3D images into a set of transparent and removable aligners, made to measure.
  • In-clinic installation of your first set of clear aligners. You will change them at home every 15 days and you will come for a review every 6-8 weeks.

Frequent questions

How long does the treatment last?
The total duration of the treatment depends on the complexity of the treatment and, in general, it is comparable or sometimes slightly less than the time necessary to perform it with traditional fixed appliances.

What are aligners made of?
Invisalign aligners are made from a strong hospital thermoplastic material developed exclusively for Invisalign. The aligners do not spoil, are made to measure and fit perfectly to the teeth. Some orthodontists have referred to them as «tooth contact lenses.»

Is the Invisalign® treatment painful?
Some people may feel a little temporary discomfort for the first few days at the beginning of each new stage of treatment, when changing aligner sets. This is normal and is often described as a slight feeling of pressure. It is the sign that the treatment is working well, gradually moving the teeth and helping to achieve the final result. These mild discomforts usually disappear in a couple of days or even less time.

How long do I have to wear the aligners?
The recommended time of use is about 22 hours a day, that is, they should be kept on all the time except the time we use in eating and in correct dental hygiene.
